The Commissioner for Health of Ondo State, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, is reportedly dead after complications due to infection by the deadly COVID- 19 virus. He is said to have died at the state infectious disease control hospital in Akure.
Dr. Wahab’s death comes as a big shock to the State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu who also announced that he had tested positive for COVID- 19. Mr Wahab Adegbenro who is a native of Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore in Ondo State was said to have died of complications from COVID-19.
The death of the commissioner was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Segun Ajiboye, via a telephone interview.
Up until his death, Dr. Wahab held many positions in the State and was a member of some notable organisations like:
Nigeria Medical Association; member of the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria; Associate member, Royal College of General Practitioners of London; and member of Nigeria Guild of Medical Directors. May his souls rest in perfect peace.
