There are places all over the world where airplanes do not fly over. This could be for certain various reasons like religious reasons, political, geographical and historical reasons. Below are 5 places in the world where planes do not fly over, and the real reasons
5. Tibet :
Tibet is a region in Asia that is considered one of the most elevated areas in the world as the average elevation in the region is approximately 16,000 feet. Tibet is one of the regions of the world with a natural no-fly zone due to factors such as the high mountains situated within its borders. Despite most commercial planes being able to fly at a height above the mountains, to ensure the safety of the passengers, flight paths generally avoid the high mountains in the area.
4. Taj Mahal :
One of the most iconic pieces of Indian architecture is the Taj Mahal which was constructed from 1632 to 1653. UNESCO recognized the importance of the building in 1983 as the organization designated it a world heritage site. The Indian government instituted a no-fly zone in the region in 2006 primarily to safeguard the building and a large number of tourists who visit the area.
All traffic is prohibited above Paris. Exceptions include military aircraft and civil airplanes flying no lower than 6,500 feet (2,000 m). Authorizations are either given by the Ministry of Defence, for military aircraft, or by the Paris Police Prefecture and the Directorate General for Civil Aviation for civil ones. Moreover, the flying of helicopters within the limits of Paris (designated the Boulevard Périphérique) is also forbidden. Special authorization can be granted by the Prefecture of Police for helicopters undertaking precise missions such as police air-surveillance, air ambulances but also the transport of high-profile personalities.
2. Disney Park:
In 2003, a temporary ban on flying over the Disney Parks was made permanent. It means that no aircraft can fly over Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California within 3,000 feet. This ban, however, is not necessarily a concern for commercial planes since there would very little reason to be flying so low.
1. Mecca :
Airlines are prohibited from entering Mecca and, particularly, flying over the Holy Kaaba. It all has to do with religious customs. Non-muslims are not permitted to travel to Mecca since it is a sacred place for the Islamic faith and center of the Hajj pilgrimage. This rule of keeping Mecca for the Muslim population is so strictly upheld that non-muslims in Mecca can face a fine and deportation. That includes any non-muslims who fly over Mecca!
