US commiserates with Nigeria on death of female combat pilot Tolulope Arotile

On Monday, July 20th, the U.S Mission in Nigeria commiserated with the family of Tolulope Arotile, 24, who was Nigeria’s first female combat pilot.

“We hope her inspiring story, perseverance, and patriotism comfort all those who supported her dream of becoming Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot”, the tweet read.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) explained the cause of her death to be a reversing car driven by her former classmate. This explanation sparked a lot of outrage, with Nigerians calling for a thorough probe.

Some, including former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, suggested the late Flying Officer’s demise might be premeditated. On Sunday, NAF revealed the identity of the alleged killer and others in the said vehicle.

We pray for the soul of the dead, for the life of the living in this trying times. May her soul rest in peace.
