Canada is one of the few countries in the world loaded with history. The country is believed to have been inhabited by various indegenous people thousands of years ago, even before European colonization began.
Toronto is the best city in Canada and the capital to Ontario province. But inside the city is the country’s oldest tree and arguably the world’s oldest tree that no tourist or local is allowed to touch.
The Northern red Oak tree is believed to be 300-350 years old, older than Canada itself and for the last 14 years now authorities in the city have been trying to protect the tree and even raised over $96,000 to help protect it. The tree is 24 metres in height and 5 metres in circumference with its branches longer just like its trunk.
Edith George one of the resident believes that meditating around the tree yields result for her.
Some of the city residents nowadays always gather around the mysterious tree instead of going to church. When bad things happen, I don’t go to church, I come here because this is like my cathedral. It’s a survivor and it gives us hope for a planet that’s in peril” said Edith George one of the resident. Houses have now been built around the tree and experts have warned that if the tree falls it might end up destroying the homes.
